Hockey Australia has today announced a new-look Hockeyroos squad for Block 2 of the FIH Pro League in Hobart, as the majority of the Block 1 group departs for Santiago, Chile to contest the FIH Hockey World Cup Qualifiers.
Block 2 in Hobart provides an exciting opportunity for returning internationals and emerging talent to step onto the international stage on home soil at the Aurora Energy Tasmanian Hockey Centre.
The squad blends experience with fresh faces, including six debutants who are in line to earn their first international caps in green and gold.
Block 2 will also mark potential first appearances for Mihaylia Howell, Camryn Mathison, Alyssa Smith, Georgie Smithers, Zali Ward and Georgina West. Notably, Camryn Mathison could join sister Morgan in representing Australia at senior level, adding a special family storyline to the Hobart event.
Among the returning names is Maddi Brooks, who represented the Hockeyroos from 2023–2025, earning 44 caps after debuting at just 19 years of age in her hometown of Hobart in 2023. Hannah Cullum-Sanders, who debuted at 18 in May 2022 and has since played 23 internationals, also returns to the national set-up.
Experienced campaigner Beck Greiner will make her way back into the green and gold during Block 2. Greiner has played 80 matches for the Hockeyroos across stints from 2019 and 2022–2024, with her most recent appearance coming in the Paris Olympic quarter final.
Courtney Schonell (42 caps, 10 goals), who featured from 2021–2023 before injury sidelined her in 2024, was reselected in 2025 and will add valuable experience. Maddi Smith (26 caps, 2023–2025) and Sophie Taylor (37 caps, 4 goals, 2019–2021) also bolster the squad, with Taylor returning to the international fold for the first time since June 2021.
Lexie Pickering, a member of the 2025 squad, brings strong recent form after playing six matches and scoring three goals last year. Jesse Reid, who debuted in the European Pro League in June 2025 and has played three matches, continues her development at international level.
Four non-travelling reserves have also bee selected for Block 2 in the form of Bianca Zurrer, Karissa van der Wath, Evie Stansby and Dayle Dolkens.
With Hobart once again hosting international hockey, the Block 2 series presents a significant opportunity for Australia’s next wave of talent to gain invaluable experience against world-class opposition, while fans will have the chance to witness both established internationals and future stars wearing the green and gold.
